The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted billions of lives across the globe. It has changed how we work, shop, socialise and even cook, exercise, and care for our skin at home. Now that the COVID-19 vaccine is available, it’s easy to think that the pandemic will be over soon.
As vaccine rollouts get implemented, wealthy nations pull ahead in their inoculation rates. They can gradually reopen their economies. They can protect billions of their people from experiencing the continual health and financial impacts of the pandemic. Unfortunately, the opposite is true for less-developed countries. Vaccine inequity has been a huge global issue.
Low-income countries lag in the race to get vaccinated
As of 25 September 2021, around six billion doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered globally. In many lower-income countries, however, only around two per cent of the population has received at least one dose. That’s according to the Our World in Data report.
The issue of vaccine inequity emerged due to several factors. For one, there’s a global shortage of vaccine raw materials and production capacity. Some countries also experience logistical difficulties as they procure and store the vaccines. Of course, vaccine hesitancy is another problem. But all these factors shouldn’t stop the rest of the world from pursuing equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. After all, the pandemic remains global.
COVID-19 doesn’t respect borders. As Delta and other variants emerge, COVID-19 will continue to be a threat to every country as long as the virus exists anywhere in the world.
How we can help ensure vaccines reach people in need
Vaccine shortage is a tough issue, but each one of us can help resolve it. At Efani Co., we make skin care products with care and compassion. We’re proud that our products are gentle for the skin—and gentle for the planet. Our mission, however, doesn’t stop there.
We’ve recently launched our “Buy One Give One” campaign. It’s fairly simple: buy one Efani Co. product and give one COVID-19 vaccine to a person in need. For every purchase you make, we’ll donate one vaccine worth AU$7.70 to WHO Foundation. Rest assured that the donation will be made in honour of your name.
As you take better care of your skin at home, you can help lower-income countries boost their inoculation rates. This may sound minute, but imagine if each person in Australia could donate one COVID vaccine to an individual who needs it the most. Imagine a world where people could talk and embrace each other—without worrying whether they’d get infected. That kind of world is attainable. In your own little way, you can make that world possible.
Create an impact with Efani Co.

But thanks to the unwavering support of our customers, we continue to rise above during the pandemic. With that, we just want to give back through our new “Buy One Give One” campaign. Let’s work together to help achieve vaccine equity.
